Whalley Pizza has been around forever. Although the inside is closed (Dec.2021) carry out tastes just as good. Pizza, subs, and anything else you might like.
This is my number one spot when I want grilled chicken and rice with sautéed vegetables. I always call my order in and pick up my food because parking can be a challenge some times.
The closest I've had to NY style pizza. My nephew had been singing their praises and I put off patronizing them for years. And then the other day our doorbell rang and a delivery came. My brother ordered a large. I'm not one to turn down free food or pizza and was pleasantly surprised. So they are around the corner in walking distance. Not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing but I will try a grinder next for sure.
So another great pizza spot in new haven! The crust is a little thicker than the typical new haven brick-oven style that I love, but this is still a solid pizza with great flavor. When I visit here, it's usually for the pizza, but this time I was gonna try something different on the recommendation of a friend. Luckily I found out that they sell slices, so I was still able to enjoy a piece of my usual favorite item. The let down came from the grilled chicken salad. The chicken itself was extremely dry and the proportion of the salad was off. Felt like I was eating a plate of dry chicken sitting on a bed of lettuce. I love my veggies. They must have forgotten it was supposed to be a salad. The saving grace was the house vinaigrette, it was amazing!!! But Next time I'll just stick with the pizza...
I have been coming here since 1990. I would bring my daughter when she was a child. Well 34 years later and it is still good. I can remember the first time I tasted the pizza oh the crust and the oils are perfect. Listen they are consistently good. I love it that's all I can say. The onion rings with tartar sauce the hot dog ... Forget about it! So good!
